Na Bolom is a non profit institution dedicated to the protection of both the nature and the culture of the highlands and jungle of Chiapas. it was founded by the must famous expeditioner of mesoamerica, Fran's Blom (Danish) and the renown fotographer and swiss environmentalist Gertrude Duby. At her dead, their house, which was used as a research center committed to the work on the area together with the must important universities of the United States, was left to a board of trustees whom have preserved to sustain the programs the Bloms created. The hotel has three rooms to receive the lacandons when in SanCristobal. The hotel is a part of a museum, every room is decorated according to the Indian towns surrounding the highlands of Chiapas. It has being build 100 years ago and it's being operating as a hotel since 1951, receiving the must incredible researchers and artists of both Mexico and North America. Na Bolom as a museum is a must in the visit of the area. It is three blocks from the Santo Santo Domingo temple and 5 blocks from the main ANDADOR. The hotel is surrounded by a garden with trees. 5 rooms are at the garden. The others are among the different patios the ex convent has. The rooms have either one bed queen size (5 rooms) one king size bed (6 rooms)or two queen beds (5) With except of two rooms, all have a fireplace, wood is provided for it. All rooms have acces to wi fire, books and a table to write. Rooms have neither television nor telephone. Cultural expeditions to the jungle, the city or Indian towns ar provided by antropologist, historian or expeditioner. The library is the meeting room, provided with all equipment for a meeting. It has the biggest collection of books regarding mesoamerica. All the rooms have photos of the towns and jungle taken by Gertrude.
