A portion of the trail branches off and goes to the top of the 90-foot cliff line for a panoramic view of the community.The Blue Mounds State Park is full of natural wonders. The park is home to a Sioux quartzite cliff, rising 100 feet from the plains, to a bison herd that grazes on the prairie, and to other wildlife, including a small population of coyotes and a stable deer population. Birdwatchers can catch glimpses of several western species as well as the birds of the prairie. A sea of prairie grasses and flowers sway in the wind while prickly pear cactus bloom in June and July. The park includes a main campground with 73 campsites as well as 13 walk-in campsites on location. Guest can also walk on many of the beautiful hiking paths or go swimming at the beach area.
