Hotel International Brno is a luxury four-star hotel just below the Špilberk Castle. Less than 100 meters from Námesti Svobody (Brno's central square), yet sensitively apart from the historic face of the city. This important heritage-listed functionalist building dating back to 1962 was influenced by the architecture of the pre-war Bauhaus (or International Style) as well as by Brazilian architecture of Oscar Niemeyer. A great sight is the hotel interior, decorated with a series of original art works, mainly in "Brussels style" - the only artistic avant-garde style of the second half of the 20th century in which Czechoslovakia reached the world level.
