In 1868 the Port of Kobe opened its doors to the world becoming a gateway for people and cultures from all walks of life. Two short years later in the bustling Former Foreign Settlement Oriental Hotel was born. Widely regarded as the first western-style hotel in Japan Oriental hotel flourished and became a mainstay in the great city of Kobe. Heavily damaged in The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake of 1995 Oriental Hotel was reborn in 2010 with both the charisma of days past and the innovations of today. Whilst cherishing over 140 years of rich culture and charming guests from both home and abroad Oriental Hotel moves forward to create a new chapter in its long and illustrious history.
