The Baron was known as the King Spectacles for his influence on the Regency Kings George IV and William IV. The Regency Court descended on Bromley Hill a number of times including the Prime Ministers of the age William Pitt the Younger and the Duke of Wellington.A collector and patron of the Arts published writer and artist Baron Farnborough was a founder of the Royal Academy of Arts the Royal Institution of British Architects and the British Museum. When King George IV decided to remodel Windsor Castle the Baron even prepared the brief. The Baron Wife Amelia lane was also an artist and the designer of the Italianate Gardens including the two large clay urns which can be seen in the garden today.After the passing of Baron Farnborough the Estate was eventually broken up and developed as housing.
